October Issue

In “Washington hosts for Paws for a Cause,” the picture faced to the right should be facing toward the text in the same direction. For example, the picture in the “Paws for a Cause” article should be at the left of the text since Kimberly Chatterjee is facing to the right. The picture should always be facing toward the text. The width of the picture is just right–two columns width. As stated in the Harrower, two columns width is just right.

“If the photo faces right: This is the better solution, since the action of the photo will flow into the text. To anchor this design, both the photo and the text block need ample width; the photo should be at least 2 columns wide”

Also on the first page, the photo story “A dedication to those affected by breast cancer,” the horizontal photo and the cutline are not in the right order. On page 9 of the Harrower, the correct order is: photo, cutline, headline, and text.

On page 10 of the October issue, the column article by Edin should be in a different order. Due to vertical story design options from the Harrower on page 12, the correct order should be picture, headline, cutline, and text. The tennis article on the top of the page faces the photo in the right direction with the person facing toward the text.
